The age of Three in One

One of the thrust of the mill district is to rehabilitate and restore good soil structure to retain soil moisture, reducing the stress due to temporary moisture stress. We all know that utilizing organic fertilizers requires additional man power which entails additional cost on farm labor. Encouraging planters to use organic fertilizer is such a big task. From the slow release action up to the tedious application of 30-40 bags of organic fertilizer per hectare for some don’t attract planters to utilize this material. Though they are aware of the good effect of the organic fertilizer many are very hesitant to try and employ this fertilization protocol. Last November 27, 2010 at San Pascual, Tarlac City a techno demo was attended by nearby planters in the area. The objective is to reiterate the advantages of utilizing organic on sugarcane and the proper placement, amount and timing of application of fertilizer. The 3 in 1 planting machine fabricated by KFC Organic Compost showed that it can be easily done. The machine has three main compartment for the seed pieces conveyor, organic bin and inorganic bin. This machine can plant at 3 lacsa applying up to 60 bags of organic with 3 bags inorganic per hectare in just one pass depending on the desired calibration. Truly we need to employ and adapt modern farm machineries that will not only lower our costs but also can accomplish our cultural practices in proper timing. Enhancing our farming techniques can be done at a minimal cost. As we come to closer to the trend where climate change is becoming very harsh, let us be more cost-effective and efficient as well.
